Lincoln Library is a valuable resource for the community. Each year the library welcomes hundreds of customers checking out many different items from books to audiobooks to DVDs. Our volunteers play an important role in ensuring the quality of service of the library and thereby guaranteeing the success of our library.
Volunteers assist with library events, or work behind the scenes, sorting, filing, and shelving books. All volunteers are equally important to the library staff and they all help to make the library run more smoothly and efficiently.
Although Lincoln Library benefits greatly from its volunteers, volunteering can be very rewarding for the individual as well. As a library volunteer you will be opening the doors to a world of knowledge, enjoyment, and enrichment to everyone in our community. Volunteers have the opportunity to work in a friendly environment, meet new and interesting people, gain a sense of accomplishment, and learn about the library and all its resources.
You can print an application form from the Become a Volunteer at Lincoln Library brochure (PDF), complete it, and mail it to Lincoln Library, Volunteers, 326 S. 7th Street, Springfield, IL 62701, and we will match your abilities with our needs. Brochures are also available in the library. Simply pick one up during your next visit.
