The Lincoln Library Foundation was established in 1991 for purposes "charitable, literary, and educational". It is the purpose of the Foundation to focus attention on public library services in Springfield and encourage development of Lincoln Library's collections through individual gifts, endowment and bequests. The Foundation accepts contributions for books in memory of someone or in honor of individuals and events.
