Summer
Reading Program
Each summer, Lincoln Library promotes the joy of reading by sponsoring a summer reading program for children, teens and adults. The reading program kicks off on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the main library and its branches. Staff will be on hand to sign up those who would like to participate.
GET IN THE GAME, READ is the theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program. The Youth Service Department offers two age appropriate reading programs: one for children ages 11 and under and another for teens, ages 12 - 18. Both programs offer readers a goodie bag with a bookmark, a summer activity calendar, and a reading log.
The Adult Summer Reading program is for adults 19 and older. If you are one of the first 100 adults to register for the program, you will receive a free “GET IN THE GAME, READ” t-shirt.
All of the reading programs will run from June 7 - August 2, 2008. Prizes will be awarded at various intervals as reading goals are met. A grand prize will be awarded at the end of each program. Meijer has made a generous donation of four grand prizes: a girl’s bike and a boy’s bike for the children’s program and two MP3 players for the teen program. Other prizes are donated by The Friends of Lincoln Library, The Springfield Sliders and various local businesses. Full details are available in the Youth Service Department and at the Contemporary Fiction Desk at the main library or at any of the branch libraries.
