Joel Fox, author of “Lincoln’s Hand: A Zane Rigby Mystery,” will discuss and sign copies of his book at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, on the third floor of Lincoln Library - The Public Library of Springfield, 326 South 7th Street. Fox spent time in Springfield researching Lincoln and, in his novel, references several local sites and even characterizes a few people he encountered.
Set in Springfield, Illinois, Fox’s book focuses on beleagueredSenior FBI Agent Zane Rigby, who is reassigned to the Capitol city following the DNA match of a hand found with a 1901 blackmail note and a bone taken during the autopsy of Abraham Lincoln. Is Lincoln’s body still in his grave? Rigby, determined to find out, encounters numerous obstacles -- a congressman with a secret, a “miracle” performing doctor, a rekindled romance and the discovery, near Lincoln’s tomb, of a young woman’s body.
In addition to authoring a California business and politics blog, Fox and Hounds Daily, Fox has penned many opinion pieces for publications that include the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. His nonfiction works include What Baseball Means to Me, which is sanctioned by the Baseball Hall of Fame. Fox has spend many years involved with California politics, even assisting Arnold Schwarzenegger and other candidates in the historic gubernatorial recall election of 2003.
