Local Authors Breakfast at Lincoln Library

Lincoln Library will host a “Local Authors Breakfast” on Saturday, March 26, 2011, from 9 a.m. until noon, in the Carnegie Room of Lincoln Library, the public library of Springfield, 326 South 7th Street. Participants include writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and children’s books.

The public is invited to enjoy a light breakfast (coffee and treats) while visiting with Springfield-area authors and discussing their publications. The writers will be signing copies of their books which will be available for purchase.

The following area authors will be present:

  • Springfield Poets & Writers members Job Conger, Joanna Beth Tweedy and Anita Stienstra
  • John Gibson – “Why?”
  • George Heroux – “But for the Crash”
  • Kimberly Hutmacher – Children’s books, including “Television & Movie Star Dogs.”
  • Tom Jones – “Lost Survivor: The Novel of a Black Soldier's Journey to Vietnam and Back”
  • Tara McClellan McAndrew – “Stories of Springfield: Life in Lincoln's Town”
  • Bob Moore – “The President’s Men: Black United States Marshals in America”
  • Taylor Pensoneau – “Dapper & Deadly: The True Story of Black Charlie Harris”
  • Cynda Strong – “Where Do Angels Sleep”
  • Joanna Beth Tweedy – “The Yonder Side of Sass and Texas”
  • Robert Underbrink – “Somewhere We Will Find You: Search and Rescue Operation in the CBI, 1942-1945”
  • Mary Byers – Ms. Byers will not be present, but her books, including the most recent, “Race for Relevance,” will be available for purchase.

Lincoln Library Now Offers Downloadable eBooks, Audiobooks, Music, and Video

Lincoln Library, the public library of Springfield, has expanded its services with downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video. Lincoln Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting Library on the Go (http://libraryonthego.org) or following the link on Lincoln Library’s web site (http://www.lincolnlibrary.info).

Users can browse best-selling and classic titles on Library on the Go, check out with a valid Lincoln Library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices. Users will need to install free software. For audiobooks, music, and video: OverDrive® Media Console™. To read eBooks, users will need Adobe® Digital Editions. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Sony® Reader™, Nook™, and many others. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees!
