Part of Summer Reading 2022: Read Off the Beaten Path

Event Details

Paint in the park with local Springfield artists! This is a chance to experience a paintbrush in your hand while surrounded in the beautiful nature that is Washington Park. Whether you are a novice or experienced painter, this will be a relaxing and fun evening to get creative! All materials will be provided by Lincoln Library. 

There are only 10 seats, so please register below.

This session will be with Springfield native Jeff C. Williams and will be focusing on “ABSTRACT PLEIN AIR - outdoor painting composition in less traditional manner”.

Jeff Williams is a Graphic Designer at University of Illinois Springfield. He is a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Art / Graphic Design.

"I often juxtapose experiences of rural and urban and black and white America as my launch pad to delve in and out of social commentary in a bold, colorful, and provocative manner.... (I also specialize in paintings of (low carbon footprint) bicycles. Acrylic-based 2D paintings, sometimes incorporating mixed media, fibers, papers.)

My biggest influence was my grandfather Antoine Jirik, an artist in Chicago who relocated to Springfield to start a small graphic design company and my mama Alvina Williams!"
