Get a Library Card

Library Card Requirements

  • Must be at least 5 years old; need parent/guardian signature if under 16
  • Must show government-issued photo ID with current address. An official document (such as a bill) dated within the past 60 days can also be used as proof of current residence 
  • Cards are free to all residents of Capital Township age 5 or older
  • Non-residents and reciprocal visitors may be eligible. See the Circulation Policy for details

Lost Library Card Replacement

  • Report the loss immediately so the card cannot be used by others
  • Person who signed up for card is responsible for all items on account until lost card is reported

eCards

  • eCards allow access to the library’s electronic resources only

Student eCards

  • Free Student eCards are available for any student 18 and under whose residence is within the Springfield District 186 boundaries. This also applies to staff and teachers in public, private, and parochial schools
