Personal Possessions Policy

Lincoln Library provides an atmosphere that is intended to promote the use of library materials and services in a way that does not interfere with other guests’ use of the facility. Each guest is asked to be considerate of others.

Guests may bring personal possessions into the library, but for the health and safety of staff and other guests, the following guidelines apply:

  • Bags or personal belongings must be able to fit under a study table or chair. Items too large to be stowed are not allowed in the library (including stowing them in the vestibules).
  • Bags or personal belongings must not block the flow of traffic or impede others’ access to library services and materials.
  • Guests should not bringing into the library items that may present a challenge to public health and safety.
  • Personal possessions must stay with guests at all times, nor can staff watch or store guests’ personal possessions. The Library is not responsible for the theft of personal belongings on library property. Any items left unattended anywhere on library property, inside or outside, will be confiscated.
