Family Service Center Collection

The collection includes bylaw, descriptions of services, statistics, board can committee meeting minutes, and board and personnel information for the Child and Family Service. It also includes executive reports, personnel and board of directors information, board and committee meeting minutes, and needs assessments for the Family Service Center. There are also interview transcripts with people associated with the organization. There is also information on legislation related to child welfare.

The Family Service Center is the product of mergers of several predecessor organizations, including the Home for the Friendless (later called the Children’s Service League), Associated Charities (later known as the Family Welfare Association), Springfield Day Nursery, Colored Children’s Service Bureau, and Child and Family Service. The name Family Service Center of Sangamon County was adopted in 1974.
