You may have heard about the three branches of government and what they're supposed to do, but what does the text of the Constitution actually say? What did the Founders intend for the primary branch to be? Are they really "co-equal"? Can they be co-equal? Why three? Why not five, or two, or four? How have the three branches changed over time?
