Enjoy a local expert discussing a topic of interest.

NPR Illinois first went on the air January 3rd, 1975, as WSSR. Public radio in central Illinois opened a window to state government, built a community, and promoted life-long learning. Radio That Listens to You: 50 Years of NPR Illinois is a public history project that celebrates 50 years of public radio in central Illinois. To wrap up the exhibit’s installment at Lincoln Library, Evie Rodenbaugh from the Sangamon Experience will recount WSSR’s history with stories, photographs, and audio.  The historical presentation will be followed by an audience-led conversation about recent challenges in local journalism and other community resources. Visit the exhibit before it’s gone and enjoy an evening full of public radio history!
