In celebration of the 65th year anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, the first satellite ever launched into orbit around the Earth, Lincoln Library presents the award winning film October Sky, based on the book of the same name by Homer Hickam Jr., which is the true story of a coal miner's son who was inspired by the first Sputnik launch to take up rocketry against his father's wishes.
