Easter Holiday Closures

The Library will be closed Friday, March 29th and Sunday, March 31st in observance of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We will be OPEN Saturday, March 30th. Remember, our online resources are always available! 

Albert Livingstone Collection

The collection includes photos, sports items from Albert’s early years, military documents, portraits, Livingstone family items, and items, documents, and publications related to his membership in the TNT Club, Ku Klux Klan, Independent Klan of America, and the Knights of Protestantism. There are also books related to Anti-Catholicism and newspapers from Springfield, Beardstown, Manchester, East St. Louis, Chicago, and Missouri. Two family photos albums are included.

Albert Livingstone was born July 16, 1892 in Scott County, Illinois the son of James and Elizabeth Livingstone. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a court reporter for 50 years. He owned Livingstone Reporting Agency in Springfield with his brothers. He was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church, the Elks Club, American Legion, World War Barracks 185, St. Paul’s Lodge No. 500 AF & AM. He was also a member of the TNT Club, and the Ku Klux Klan, and the Abraham Lincoln Council No. 3 of the Independent Klan of America/Knights of American Protestantism.
