Emma Catherine Bishop Lippott (1852-1939) was born in Sangamon County, Illinois and resided nearly her whole life in Elkhart, Logan County, Illinois, and was widely known to residents of that vicinity. She was the widow of David Lippott (1836-1897), a Civil War veteran. Emma moved with her parents to Elkhart, Illinois when she was a child. Mary and David had 6 children, Grace B. Lippott (1881-1883), William David Lippott (1884-1964), Merle Leslie Lippott (1886-1969), Ruby Lee Lippott (1889-1959), Mary Ferne Lippott (1891-1972), and Paul Byron Lippott (1893-1981).
